Copywriting:
Cast a magic
spell using
only words.
As I write in
Website Marketing, there are so
many questions for a website - or, indeed, any communication
from your business - to answer.
In a few words, the
website visitor has to find the information they're looking
for, as well as be reassured by the professionalism,
trustworthiness, likeability and 'caringness' of the
business.
That is a LOT of work
for the website to do. But it’s very doable through a proper
Look & Feel, and above all,
through the power of words.
There’s a reason we
‘spell’ words.
It's because words can
weave magic.
Think of Martin Luther
King’s famous ‘I have a dream’ speech, or John F Kennedy’s ‘Ask
not what your country can do for you …’ speech. Or Winston
Churchill’s ‘We shall fight them on the beaches …’
speech.
Those speeches were
made of words. That’s all. Words we all have access to. Which
are made of the same 26 letters of the alphabet that three year
olds know.
But those speeches (and
many others) changed history. No wonder they say the pen
(i.e. the power of words) is mightier than the
sword.
THAT is the power of
words.
The words you use
on your website have to do the job of your sales
staff. They're that important. So, would you staff
your shop with staff who were incoherent, who didn't care about
the customer, who didn't know about the products? Of course you
wouldn't. But people are doing the equivalent all the time with
their websites.
The words DO matter.
They matter hugely.
There are people - and I’m one of them - who
study how to use words powerfully in websites and sales letters
to give the website owner’s Most Wanted Response. The words
used are your sales staff, in other words.
This isn’t
manipulation. It’s not unethical. It’s not about lying or
spin-doctoring. It is about communicating powerfully
and accurately so that the reader really gets
it.
It's not about lying in
any way. It's about telling the truth about you and your
product in the most persuasive way possible.
It is about using the ‘magic’ of words to
communicate your message.
If you would like your
potential customers to stay on your website, read your website,
and give you your Most Wanted Response - you need to make sure
the words you use are the right ones.
I can help you with
that. Robert Hayes-McCoy, Ireland's leading direct
marketing copywriter, said of my copywriting: "Tracy, I love
it! And hey! Your style is up there with the big
sellers."
You can put that style of winners to work for
you.
I offer:
Website critiques -
I’ll take a look at your existing website and advise on the
text (and the Look
& Feel too, if necessary.) See examples
here.
Writing websites
- I can either write the content to give to your website
designer, or I can design the website for you
from scratch.
Brochures - We mustn’t
forget the offline world. Brochures are expensive to print -
make sure you get value for money by having brochures people
will actually read, and ones they'll take action on.
Sales letters - There
is an absolute art and science to crafting powerful sales
letters which get results.
Newsletters - the
essence of relationship
marketing. I can do them for you.
